Christmas Fun is All Around in Alabama
There’s no doubt that Alabama is one of the best places to be during the holidays. Cheer is in the air across the state, from Huntsville all the way up north to Montgomery down south. If you’re going to be in either of these cities or Birmingham during December, here are the holiday events that our team at Vulcan Termite and Pest Control, Inc. suggests you check out with the family.
Huntsville Holiday Events
WAAY-TV Christmas Parade
Santa Claus is the main attraction at the parade as it works its way through the heart of Huntsville. The theme of the 37th annual event is “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”

Galaxy of Lights
If you and your family only plan one outing to admire Christmas lights this year, make it the Galaxy of Lights at the Huntsville/Madison County Botanical Gardens. The Galaxy of Lights Fun Run takes place this evening through the festive displays, but every other night you can hop in your car and drive through this impressive avenue of twinkling lights.

Santa’s Village
Once again, the EarlyWorks Children’s Museum has been converted into the North Pole for the holidays. The whole family can meet Santa Claus’ elves, reindeer and the big man himself at his workshop. There’s even a Magic Garden with talking Christmas trees and lights that flash to the beat of music.

Montgomery Holiday Events
22nd Annual Christmas Lights Festival
Each holiday season, thousands of lights are transformed into the shapes of animals that live at the Montgomery Zoo. You can travel the grounds by foot or by train to see all the spectacular displays. While you’re there, don’t forget to stop by and see Santa.

Governor’s Mansion Christmas Open House Tours
Each year, the governor of Alabama opens up his home to the general public in a warm welcome for the holiday season. The 106-year-old house is beautifully decorated, displaying the charm and history of the building. Decorators from all over the state volunteer every year to deck the halls of this famous Alabama residence.

Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts Open House
It’s time for the 18th annual holiday open house at MMFA! Enjoy displays that share all the holiday traditions of Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. The afternoon will be filled with art, activities and entertainment. Don’t forget to bring canned goods for the Montgomery Area Food Bank.

Birmingham / Pelham Holiday Events
Annual Christmas Tree Lighting
Tonight at Linn Park the City of Birmingham will officially usher in the Christmas season with the lighting of the city tree. But that’s not all! Spectators will also be treated to musical entertainment, the 4th Avenue North Christmas Parade, a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus and more.

The Holiday Faire
For the 26th year attendees can celebrate the holidays, get a taste of international fare and shop for unique gifts made by local artisans at The Holiday Faire.
