How to Keep Pests Out of Your HVAC

Just like your electronics, pest can also do serious damage to an HVAC system. That’s why it’s important to take preventative measures and handle any issues as soon as they occur.

Use Screens
The air vents on the exterior of the home give insects easy access into your HVAC system. One of the easiest ways to keep them outside where they belong is with mesh screens. Look for aluminum wire mesh that can be fitted over the entire vent.
Keep Things Clean
It’s almost impossible to keep every insect out of your HVAC system. They have a knack for finding their way inside, and the result can be lower air quality. Clear Out Around the Outdoor Unit
The outdoor unit for the HVAC system should be on a slab and clear of any vegetation on all sides. If grass, weeds, or bushes have grown up around the unit, cut them back.

The best way to keep bugs out of your HVAC system and the rest of your home is by getting regular pest control treatments. We recommend that homeowners get quarterly or monthly pest treatments to avoid a serious infestation. Quarterly treatments will keep you covered throughout every season to stop insects whether they are trying to warm up or cool off.
